Snapshots

A few snapshots of my week:

This necklace...

...because this statement necklace made a statement without overdoing it.

This poster...

...because I was happily surprised a seventh grader understood.

These books...

...because they would make excellent additions to my collection.

This Glossybox...

...because I can now be a high-end product junkie without going broke.

These caramel chocolate biscottis...
...because they were free and delicious.

And Then...

...sometimes there is a surprise bouquet of flowers to remind me how truly lovely Spring can be.

Cold.

Although it is the middle of March, the snow and freezing rain continue to swirl outside.  I am tired of cold, dreary days.

The Darker Sooner

By Catherine Wing
Then came the darker sooner,
came the later lower.
We were no longer a sweeter-here
happily-ever-after. We were after ever.
We were farther and further.
More was the word we used for harder.
Lost was our standard-bearer.
Our gods were fallen faster,
and fallen larger.
The day was duller, duller
was disaster. Our charge was error.
Instead of leader we had louder,
instead of lover, never. And over this river
broke the winter’s black weather.

My Planner

Everyone knows I love the Home Office department.  Colorful pens, sticky pads, and sorting bins are what my dreams are made of.  Okay, so that is an exaggeration, but I truly do love organization.  And my Erin Condren Planner provides just that.

I thought about putting this planner on my Wish List segment...then I bought one.  But I still had to share the joys and wonders of my newfound creation.

A personalized front cover with many options to choose from, including an uploaded picture of your own!

A monthly spread with "goals" and "to do" list.

A weekly spread with "morning," "day," and "night" boxes for further clarification and notes.

A folder...

To keep personalized stickers!

A zip bag for extra security.

Four pages of stickers (including one blank set).

Pages of both lined and blank paper for doodles and notes.
Furthermore, there are extra fun "things" to purchase.  You can upload photos of people/things, and the company will print them on stickers!  So, if it's someone's birthday, you can stick his/her face on the day.  You can also purchase extra blank label stickers, if you are particularly into labeling.  There is the option to upload a family picture or personal picture to the front cover of the planner, along with the design chosen.  Plus, you can customize colors or make specific requests for colors!  All together, it took about two weeks to order, ship, and receive my planner, but I definitely think it was worth the purchase.  From doing a little research, I've discovered some fairly good deals, including the one that I used, which was $20 off my total purchase.  While it can be a little pricey as a whole, there always seems to be some sort of deal.

The website also offers fun personalized stationary, mailing labels, teacher gradebooks, iPad and Kindle folios, recipe cards, and acrylic products!

Wish List

Piperlime Flats
Enzo Angliolini Bullseye Flats | Piperlime

I am desperately wishing for summer.  And nothing says "it's warm out" like wearing flats.  Flats officially say, "There is no snow/muck/mud/slush/rain, and thus, I am unafraid to wear these wonderful creations outside."  And these are wonderful creations, indeed.  I love the sweep of neutral colors, and the flats make me think of black or white shorts and a summery blouse.  Sounds like heaven to me.

I'm also in love with these flats, and while I orginally found them on Piperlime, they are no longer available in the polka dot print, so I had to find them elsewhere.  The other prints in the Matisse Kileys are pleasing though, as well.

Getting Past the Hype

Slowly but surely I am trucking through the Harry Potter series (again).  Actually, that is misleading.  I only made it through 2.5 books the first time.  I got scared.  Hey, I was sensitive?

Yet the time has come where I am no longer (such) a scaredy-cat.  Furthermore, a coworker of mine is in love with the series, and I trust her judgment.  It's hard to relate to a generation of Twilight-lovers and Potter-lovers and Katniss-lovers if I have never read the books myself.  But before I started in, I needed a blank slate.  I had to get past how I heard this series was un-Christian.  And geeky.  I think all readers go through this at some point.  I know that The Hunger Games was talked up as it gained more and more devoted followers, and some people who read the series during/after the hype were severely disappointed.  I didn't want this to happen to me.

As of now, I am able to move through as a first-time reader.  And I must say, while I'm not obsessed with finding the time to read and neglecting my work, I am enjoying the reread.  And moving on from a dystopian world to a fantastical one isn't a bad trade.

Snapshots

A few snapshots of my week:

This pharmacy sign...

...because a friend drew it as a possibility for Karl someday and it made me giggle.

Theo...

...because she was napping between two nappers on a Saturday evening.

This cutoff shirt...

...perhaps this is self-explanatory.  I am trying to be better at working out.

This coloring sheet...

...because although a small child colored over my mini hearts, she was trying to help.

This school breakfast...

...because I recommend the Berry/Nut blend to all.
